Staycation

All of us desire a relaxing and soothing vacation. Back in the days, most of us travel far to go for a swim and rest in a beautiful property. It’s great if you have a lot of free days enough for your stay and travel time. But what if you only have the weekend? Good thing, renting houses or condominium units for a short stay has become a trend. This practice is also known as “staycation”. You are staying in a house, condo unit, or property for a vacation. It can be anywhere as near like renting a condo unit overnight in Bonifacio Global City or somewhere farther than your place.

Have you tried going for that kind of vacation? If not, I guess it’s time for you to plan.

Why go for a staycation?

It is relatively cheaper if you’re having a staycation. Some hosts offer free breakfast and other meals, and other amenities and facilities for a lower price than what you can get in hotels and resorts. Moreover, the travel expenses of going to the condominium or property are not as much what you’d spend if you’re going to a beach resort.

There are also fewer restrictions. Even though there are still rules that apply, you can easily make some adjustments with your host. It can be about your check in and out time, fees or freebies. Can you do that with hotels?

Most probably, the area of your unit where you’re going to stay is surrounded by commercial establishments. What does it mean? If ever you forgot to buy something that you need, you don’t have to go for a long walk or settle with overpriced goods. You can directly buy in the department store or the nearest local market.

And now, to help you with your plan, here are a few things to remember when going for a staycation:

Make arrangements ahead of time

Think of a place where you want to stay and look for a host as early as possible. Not only to avoid missed bookings but also to prepare yourself and your companions. Having contacted your host, know what time is your check in and out time, the fees you need to pay and how are you going to settle those.

You can also plan your itinerary if you like. Stay in the unit for the first few hours, go for a swim after eating lunch, and go out at night to the nearest bar. This might be a simple idea but it will help you relax for a while.

Go for your hobbies

When was the last time you held a book and was able to finish it without any distractions? How about sketching, drawing, or painting without any pauses? Your staycation is an opportunity for you to do what you usually do before you had work and got preoccupied. If you are staying with friends or relatives, this is the chance for you to play the cards again and some board games. And if you are lucky enough to bring in some pets, it’s the time to reconnect with your babies.

Vacation mode on

You’re staying there for a rest and not for an extension of work. Well, you might need to check your emails and phones to see if there’s something important or urgent that you need to address. But hey, you’re supposed to arrange that prior to your vacation – file a leave, notify your workmates, advise your supervisors that you will be out and unreachable for a few days. Your vacation will be better if you’d disconnect on the internet and keep your phone inside the cabinet.

Take a deep breath. Everything’s going to be fine at work! Use this time to unwind and give yourself a break.
